Motors, Music and More to Highlight 2012 Carlisle Bike Fest

Nine Local, Regional or National Acts to Entertain the Masses at Carlisle

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

At Carlisle Bike Fest, the annual featured attraction are the bikes, with more than 20,000 cruising on grounds over the course of the three-day event. This year, Bike Fest, held July 20-22 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, will feature more than just bikes as music serves as a great secondary outlet for onsite enthusiasts. As Carlisle Bike Fest heads into its second decade at America's Automotive Hometown, nine acts have been confirmed for 10 slots throughout the weekend.

Of the nine bands playing in 2012, all but four were onsite in 2011. New acts include Nate Meyers and the Aces, Charm City Devils, Deezle Church and Green Eggs. Returning to the 92.1 WTPA Main Stage and neighboring Auto Trader Classics Pavilion is Bushmaster featuring Gary Brown, Blackwater Jam, KB Bluez, Mike Kell and Friends as well as Drymill Road.

Friday's musical excitement starts with a Washington D.C. area native, Gary Brown and his group Bushmaster. Brown began playing music at the age of 12 and 30+ years later he's still entertaining the masses. Following Brown will be Blackwater Jam, the ultimate, no holds-barred Southern Rock and Blues band from south central Pennsylvania. Attendees can expect a great array of southern rock jams from Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top and more. Finally, Friday's musical fun wraps with Deezle Church, a band that puts a new age twist on outlaw country from the past. Deezle Church has opened for the likes of David Allen Coe, Randy Houser and Colt Ford.

Bushmaster featuring Gary Brown returns for a second set to start the Saturday Carlisle Bike Fest schedule. In addition to KB Bluez featuring Barry Price and Mike Kell and Friends playing the pavilion, the main stage will host Green Eggs and then be headlined by the Charm City Devils (CCD).

CCD are Baltimore-based and their star has been shining brighter than ever before due in part to the release of their recent album SINS. The release features a hard-edged cover of Man of Constant Sorrow, a bluegrass song made popular by the Soggy Bottom Boys as part of the sound track to 2000's "O Brother Where Art Thou." The track quickly exploded on the Active Rock radio airwaves nationwide. CCD has played major rock festivals nationwide and is currently on tour promoting SINS.

Carlisle Bike Fest and its associated musical entertainment come to a close on Sunday with a pair of bands playing, Drymill Road as well as Nate Meyers and the Aces. Dry Mill will be positioned within the pavilion as part of the Rat Rod Revival while Nate Meyers will be on the main stage. Both acts have a strong local following and will be a great accompaniment to the final hours of the event.

Along with a great array of music to entertain the more than 35,000 bike enthusiasts onsite, there is free bike parking with many stepping off their rides into the middle of an open-air experience like no other. Carlisle Bike Fest, the mid-Atlantic’s premier motorcycle event, is crafted with the rider in mind. Tens of thousands of bikes, trikes and open-air fanatics will cruise in through the breathtaking scenic mountains of the Cumberland Valley to Carlisle for everything from non-stop entertainment to industry guests, demo rides, bike giveaways and more. Whether you spend a few hours or the entire day in Carlisle, you will enjoy a wide variety of apparel, motorcycle and accessory vendors that are second to none. You don’t want to miss this three-day open-air celebration. Carlisle Bike Fest – enjoy the ride!
